Problem-solving, as I define it, involves deconstructing issues and predicting implications of potential solutions or interventions, and applying rationale to address the challenges that most do not. Essentially, problem-solving is an indicative step-wise approach to intervention that will not exacerbate the initial problem. This self-assessment will help me explain how I examine and respond to challenges that I face and provide examples from my personal life to clarify my rationale in particular cases.

Current Approach to Solve Problems

My approach to problem-solving incorporates structure, yet remains adaptable to new contexts. I begin by making certain that I thoroughly and critically evaluate the problem. This includes identifying all relevant parameters and taking the initiative to ask clarifying questions as needed. I then ensure that I interrogate the parameters thoroughly and identify the issues that are related to this construct. Only then do I begin to examine the solutions that have been implemented by others in the context of the problem I am dealing with, and adapt those solutions based on the context I am in. I emphasize the approach of implementing solutions in a defined order to direct me toward the ultimate goal. This helps me to remain focused on a clear end goal.

I want to give back to society, like the numerous productive problem solvers that I have witnessed who give back to society by helping others to solve challenges using their creativity, interpersonal skills, and logical and decisive thinking in order to come up with meaningful and productive lasting solutions.

The Use of an Example to Resolve a Problem

While working as a Marketing Operations Manager, I used a structured and flexible approach to problem-solving in order to improve the efficiency of handling sales leads. Marketing campaigns were failing to attract customers, which was negatively impacting the generation of sales leads. To solve this, I examined the sales lead generation and distribution system and spoke with the marketing and sales teams in order to locate where the problems were.

To help the sales leads convert, I used industry best practices and made changes to our organization regarding the improvement of lead qualification to help the sales teams. Through the iterative process and strong collaboration between the marketing and the sales teams, lead conversion and the sales lead pipeline were significantly improved. This problem-solving example helped address the original problem and created a system whereby operational improvements can continually be implemented.

Why I Approach Problem Solving in the Way Described

Practice and constant participation in the process have structured and made the decision-making process deliberate. This is how I prefer to approach issues solving based on identification of the problem, cause, and search for solutions and ways to implement them. This method requires listening and addressing emerging issues, non-judgment, and thinking to develop fair and efficient responses to the arising conditions.

However, I take my time to consider the various pieces of information and viewpoints that define the complexity of the problem at hand. This method works to thoroughly solve the problem to accommodate everyone. A rational and methodical approach to problems enables one to tackle them more objectively, if not unemotionally. It encourages civil and flexible behaviors that constructively affect one’s professional and personal life.

To summarize, the integration of a methodical and descriptive approach to problem-solving promotes the constructive engagement of the mind to offer an effective resolution to a given challenge. This kind of approach offers a clear pathway to systematize and resolve the challenge. It also proves effective for the multitude of demands and challenges one encounters in life.
