Audio Memo Script for Stakeholder Engagement
I’m Wilson. I lead the telemonitoring-enhanced electronic health record (EHR) implementation at Mercy Medical Center as the Chief Nursing Informatics Officer. I am eager to share a project that I believe will transform how we deliver patient care and create substantial positive change for our organization. This project has an 18-month implementation plan and a cost of $1.95 million. However, we believe we can recover the investment within 18 months.
At that point, the hospital can expect to lose less money on average for each of its admissions ($4,760), and the hospital will see the length of stay drop. Clinical staff will also see improvements to their clinical workflows. This will change the work of many stakeholders, clinicians, and champions for the better. Finally, the project will support the creation of evidence-based patient care, and the informatics team will have the opportunity to use a new, cutting-edge information system. (Dukhanin et al., 2023).
This execution strategy incorporates Kotter’s 8-Step Change Model and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The aim is to deepen and sustain active engagement of stakeholders within the organization. Project champions adopt specific change management styles when addressing their colleagues. These styles explain the new system’s constraints, the time pressure posed by the system, the benefits obtained from the new system, and the first step to accomplish the goal through an implementation-by-phases approach (Fredberg and Pregmark, 2021).
Users of the trial telemonitoring system testified to their colleagues about the system and the improvement in patient outcomes attributed to a reduction in the documentation burden following a successful pilot. This positively correlates with the recommendation of the other author (Zubrinic et al., 2023). Within Mercy Medical Center, the Informatics team focuses on designing systems to save both nursing and patient costs. They establish stakeholder coalitions to enable participants to work smoothly within the integrated systems.
