Completion of Practicum Hours

As a part of my coursework, I have fulfilled the number of practicum hours necessary to complete my MSN program (100 hours). These hours were spent on a variety of activities that were associated with the primary subject of my practicum experience: patient-centred care, self-care, and workplace health and well-being.

I worked with my preceptor to apply motivational interviewing, the culturally sensitive care plan designs, and evaluate the workplace to enhance the health and well-being of the staff members. These tasks provided me with the possibility to combine my theoretical knowledge with practice and enhance my communication, leadership, and critical thinking abilities.

The practicum experience has enabled me to appreciate the intricacies of the healthcare system, especially in addressing the needs of the varied population of patients and establishing a healthy workplace. Some of the activities that I engaged in were the provision of patient education, interdisciplinary teamwork, and quality improvement project leadership.

The activities were useful in making me understand the value of person-centred care, as well as in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the healthcare environment. This 100-hour experience has prepared me to take the capstone course and provided me with the instruments that I will use to transform lives in my future practice as a clinical practitioner.
